The School Council has been successful in improving our school recycling opportunities. New bins at playtime give pupils the chance to compost waste fruit and/or toast as well as recycle waste plastic containers. Well Done and thank you!
Mid Year reports will be sent out next Wednesday 14th March and Parent’s Evening will be on 21st March – we look forward to seeing you.

Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Learning

SMSC and British Values

SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education. Alongside their academic learning, these aspects of learning about life are very important for children; the ability to appreciate the spiritual nature of themselves, to consider moral issues, to understand the social contexts in which they will find themselves and to function confidently and with empathy in a culturally diverse world. At Little Stoke we aim to fully develop these attributes in our children and make sure we interweave this learning successfully into our school and curriculum.

British Values are:

democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith

At Little Stoke we take a holistic approach to the teaching and promotion of SMSC and British Values. We ensure that they permeate every aspect of school life in the way we interact: children to children, children to adults and adults to adults. There is a strong school ethos which embodies the core aspects of SMSC and British Values including quality books which are at the very centre of our Curriculum. Many books will have themes covering tolerance, mutual respect and democracy.
